Courses
Courses I teach (and have taught recently) include:
- ASU 101 (now IAS 191 - New College Freshman Seminar)
- BIO 181: General Biology I
- BIO 354: Cell Biology Laboratory
- MIC 443: The Microbial Universe (see Prezi below for a sneak peak):
- the course includes a new introductory exercise I authored that allows students to gain familiarity and proficiency in comparative prokaryotic genomics:
- Preview my introduction to MIC 443
- LSC 484: Internship
- LSC 499: Individualized Instruction
- Course content (syllabi, visual aids, resources, etc.) can be accessed through BlackBoard (accessible to ASU students through MyASU).
- In addition to teaching courses via traditional mechanisms modes of delivery, I have developed online, interactive animations of key concepts in microbiology and molecular biology including those depicting:
- negative regulation (e.g., of the lac operon of E. coli)
- positive regulation (e.g., of the lac operon of E. coli)
- attenuation (e.g., of the trp operon of E. coli)
- enzyme regulation via allosterism
- rho-dependent termination of transcription
